I began measuring and cutting the pieces that would be needed
to make the pilot’s side storage. Ended up cutting and forming a pan before
realizing I would be unable to cut it after forming. I would need to rethink
how this side would go together. Once I devised a new plan, I cut out the front
piece and bent a flange for the floor to sit on. I then cut the floor out. I
marked the floor for the elevator push rod and cut the floor into two pieces. I
will trim them once I get the rest of the pieces cut out.
I took a break from that to rivet the passenger’s storage
pan together. I only had a few flush rivets and would need to order more to
finish the job. However, I was able to get most of the pan riveted together.
With it together, I placed it in position so I could determine the best way to
mount it in the fuselage. The goal was to NOT make it a permanent installation
yet be well secured. I wanted to be able to remove it for inspections down the
road. At this point, I think Adel clamps are going to be the best option. I
will have to order a couple of different sizes to accommodate the different sized
tubes on the fuselage.
