MOD – Under Seat Storage (Pilot's Side)

I began measuring and cutting the pieces that would be needed to make the pilot’s side storage. Ended up cutting and forming a pan before realizing I would be unable to cut it after forming. I would need to rethink how this side would go together. Once I devised a new plan, I cut out the front piece and bent a flange for the floor to sit on. I then cut the floor out. I marked the floor for the elevator push rod and cut the floor into two pieces. I will trim them once I get the rest of the pieces cut out.
I took a break from that to rivet the passenger’s storage pan together. I only had a few flush rivets and would need to order more to finish the job. However, I was able to get most of the pan riveted together. With it together, I placed it in position so I could determine the best way to mount it in the fuselage. The goal was to NOT make it a permanent installation yet be well secured. I wanted to be able to remove it for inspections down the road. At this point, I think Adel clamps are going to be the best option. I will have to order a couple of different sizes to accommodate the different sized tubes on the fuselage.

MOD – Under Seat Storage (Passenger Side)

I began by measuring for the base of the storage pan. I cut the piece to fit side to side and left it long to give me some room for trimming to fit after the bends were made. I made the first bend for the front of the pan. I had to cut a notch out for the front of the seat rail. Once that was cut out, I could fit the pan in place to measure for the rear bend. After I made the first rear bend, I check the fit. I measured for the z bend to finish off the rear of the pan. Then I trimmed the excess off to complete the pan.

Next I began making up the right side by cutting a blank to the overall size needed plus some for the rivet flanges. I placed the pan in place and set the side blank in position to transfer the angles required. I bent the forward flange first and test fit it to the pan. I then bent the bottom flange. This left the rear flange to cut and bend. I had to determine how to finish the rear of the sides. Once I determined how I wanted them to look I cut and trimmed them to finished form.

After the right side was formed, I clamped it to the pan and used the rivet fan to layout the rivets. I marked and drilled with a #40 bit and cleco’d the side to the pan. I then proceeded to clone the other side. Once both sides were formed, drilled and cleco’d to the pan, I test fit the assembly into the fuselage. This allowed me to determine if any final trimming that was needed.

MOD – Elevator Trim Tab and Trim Servo

I mounted the trim tab assembly to the elevator. Drilled and cleco’d the assembly to the elevator. Measured and cut a .040” plate for the trim servo. Drilled and cleco’d the trim plate to the fuselage. Marked and drilled the trim plate for the servo. Cleco’d the servo to the plate.
