I received my Garmin GTR 20 remote mounted com radio. This will be my "COM 2". Since its remote mounted I needed to figure out where to mount it. I found a pretty good place right behind the real baggage panel. So, I set about making up an aluminum panel to mount as a mount. I got it cut to size and bent the edges for stiffness and drilled the holes for the radio. Then I drilled out the holes for anchor nuts so I can easily remove the radio from the mount. After drilling all the holes I dimpled the rivet holes for flush rivets. Once complete, I set the anchor nuts with CCC-32 rivets.
Next was to drill the holes for the adel clamps to secure the mount to the airframe. I did not have the correct size adel clamps for the smaller upright fuselage tube. I was able to set the three others on the larger tube. I'm waiting on the new clamps to arrive to drill the remaining holes. I will then final sand and finish the mount.
