I located the four pre-cut and drilled wing slat tips. Two on each wing, out board edges of the slats. I had to fit the tip to the end of the slat unfortunately, the tip shape was not a perfect match to the end of the slat. I did the best I could and taped the tip in place over the end. There are already three rivet holes drilled into the tip, requiring me to match drill them on to the end piece of the slat. Upon drilling the first hole I was able to install a cleco which anchored the tip to the slat. Then I drilled the remaining two holes and installed clecos in them.
The next step is to match drill the three holes to a #30 size hole. Once done, I took the tip off and deburred all the holes. I reinstalled the tip using #30 clecos leaving one out. I installed a rivet in that hole and did the same for the remaing two holes. I moved on to the other tip.
As I was drilling and clecoing the other tip I was not happy with the first tip as there were small gaps around the edges of the tip. I decided I would Hysol the next tip in place with rivets. I mixed up some Hysol and applied it all around the edges of the slat end. I put the tip in place and riveted it on. Using rubbing alcohol and a shop towel I wiped the excess Hysol off and taped the end on closing all gaps and waited for the Hysol to set.
I returned to the first tip I installed and drilled the rivets out and repeated the install using the Hysol and tape. Once these are set up I'll remove the tape and can address the ill fitting edges with a file.
